Ts. Lukas J. Tan, AI leadership and digital transformation keynote speaker

Ts. Lukas J. Tan

AI Leadership & Digital Transformation Keynote Speaker

Ts. Lukas J. Tan is an executive keynote speaker on AI leadership, digital transformation, and organisational execution — trusted by conference organisers, corporate leadership teams, and government agencies to make disruption clear and actionable. His authority is built on more than 19 years of real implementation as Founder & CEO of OPERION Ecommerce & Software Sdn Bhd and Founder & Organising Chairman of the Penang Digitalisation-AI Conference & Exhibition (PDX).

On stage, he brings executive storytelling, business-technology translation, and frameworks audiences can apply immediately — guided by one operating principle: Dream It. Execute It. Ground It.

  • A way to bridge business leadership and technical implementation
  • The confidence to lead teams when technology moves faster than strategy

Entrepreneurship & Ecosystem Building

From Bold Idea to Breakthrough Platform

Ideal Audience

Entrepreneurs, founders, industry associations, government-linked organisations, and ecosystem builders.

Audience Outcomes

  • A shift from project thinking to ecosystem thinking
  • A way to turn an early-stage idea into a credible platform
  • Clarity on designing stakeholder roles, authority, and accountability

Ideal Audience

Government agencies, corporate CSR & ESG teams, NGOs, schools, banks, and technology organisations.

Audience Outcomes

  • Clarity on why human behaviour remains central to digital trust
  • A model for CSR that survives leadership and funding change

Breakthrough ideas matter only when leaders have the courage to execute them and the discipline to turn them into sustainable impact —

Dream It. Execute It. Ground It.
Perspectives on AI, Leadership & Digital Transformation

Insights

Field notes from building software, ecosystems and digital transformation programmes across Malaysia — swipe through them like a story, no clicking back and forth.

Breakthrough. Innovation. Grounded Execution.

Why Invite Ts. Lukas J. Tan

Ts. Lukas J. Tan brings together entrepreneurial leadership, software development, digital transformation, AI education, and ecosystem-building experience in one voice. His presentations are shaped by real implementation: building technology systems, managing transformation challenges, developing teams, organising large-scale industry platforms, educating students and communities, and turning ideas into sustainable initiatives.

He helps audiences understand complex technology without unnecessary technical language, while still giving leaders enough depth to make informed decisions. His distinctive strength is his ability to communicate across two worlds: business leaders and technology teams, strategy and implementation, innovation and operational reality. He does not present innovation as theory — he shows what must happen between an idea and a result: alignment, communication, systems, ownership, execution, and grounding. Lukas leaves audiences with more than inspiration. He gives them a clearer way to think, decide, communicate, and act.

About Lukas J. Tan

Helping organisations survive disruption, break through complexity, and build lasting impact in the AI era.

The IT Journey

From an Intel 486 to the AI Era

Age 10 to today — a running log of the machines, breakthroughs and reinventions along the way. (This timeline keeps growing — check back for updates.)

1995 · Age 10

The Intel 486 and DOS 5.0 Era

His first personal computer was an Intel 486 operating on DOS 5.0, during the era of roughly 2MB of RAM. With no modern graphical interface, online tutorials, or search engines to rely on, every step required experimentation, logical thinking, and persistence — shaping the way he still approaches technology today.

1996 · Age 11

Learning by Building and Repairing

In his early teens, Lukas spent time repairing computer hardware at a relative's company and building practical projects with his own hands — including a 30-square-foot wooden house with his school friends, an early instinct to turn ideas into physical outcomes.

2003 – 2007

Formal Training, Open Source Awakening

Diploma and Bachelor's in Information Systems Engineering. Interning at Biz Power Solutions KL, he discovers Ubuntu and osCommerce — his first real taste of building for others.

2007

Maple Software Creation

After completing university, Lukas founded Maple Software Creation in Butterworth. During the early startup years, he travelled between Penang and Kuala Lumpur almost every week to meet clients, pursue opportunities, and build partnerships — direct client engagement that taught him how technology must respond to real business needs.

2008

Autobot CRM and the Early Automation Vision

Inspired by the concept of JARVIS, Tony Stark's intelligent assistant in Iron Man, Lukas began developing Autobot CRM — a practical business-automation system to coordinate follow-ups, organise customer information, and improve operational decision-making. Years before AI assistants and intelligent workflow automation became mainstream business concepts.

2010

40+ Universities, 300+ Programmers

Technopreneurship talks and programmer training take off nationwide — the start of what would grow into more than 40 university engagements and 300+ programmers trained, years before OPERiON existed.

2014

Maple Software Creation Evolves into OPERiON

Maple Software Creation was repositioned under the OPERiON brand — derived from “operation,” reflecting the company's purpose of optimising operational resources, simplifying business processes, and building technology that supports sustainable growth. This marked its evolution from a software-development provider into a broader digital-transformation and operational-technology partner.

2018 – 2022

National Recognition: JCI, Golden Bull & SEBA

OPERiON and its founder earn a run of national recognition — including JCI Malaysia honours, the Golden Bull Emerging SME Award, and SEBA's Best Software Provider award — validation of a company built on independent, microservice architecture and client-first execution.

2024

A Malaysia Book of Records

The 1 Million Tree Planting App, developed for Yayasan Amal TYT Pulau Pinang, supported the live tracking and management of a large-scale tree-planting programme recognised by The Malaysia Book of Records.

2025

Scam-Proof & National TV

Launched Scam-Proof: Before It's Too Late, featured on TV1, Berita RTM and MYTV, and served as Organising Chairman of the first PDX conference.

2026 · Today

Chairman of PDX2026 and Building the Next Growth Platform

Served as Organising Chairman of PDX2026, bringing together government agencies, multinational companies, SMEs, universities, industry leaders, technology providers, students, families, and international participants. His current focus is expanding his work in AI leadership, digital transformation, digital trust, executive education, and sustainable ecosystem development.

Lukas's instinct for building and solving problems by hand showed up early, alongside his family's sewing business and small ventures he ran as a teenager. That same instinct — see a need, build the fix, keep improving it — has carried through every business he has built since.

He attended Li Hwa Primary School and SMK Bagan Jaya Secondary School in Butterworth, Penang, before studying at Tunku Abdul Rahman College — first in Tanjung Bungah, Penang, then in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

In 2007, Lukas joined NLP Research International Sdn Bhd, where the owner, Dave J, became his mentor and sharpened his skills in web development, content strategy, design, and search engine optimisation — the toolkit he built his first company on.

Not every venture worked. Over the years Lukas built and shut down an FTZ classified-ads platform, a blue-collar job app called Jobfisher, a GPS point-location tool, the BeList property management system, and a rewards app called Claim It — each failure sharpening a client-first philosophy he still leads by: ‘Customers are my teachers; they push me, they demand of me, and they are the people who make me grow.’

Lukas studies how different innovation cultures approach speed, resilience, entrepreneurship, technology adoption, and long-term national development. He is particularly interested in how Malaysia can combine technological capability, cultural adaptability, creative thinking, and collaborative leadership to compete globally.

Lukas is married and has one child. He remains an active reader of business and technology trends, and welcomes conversations with organisations exploring new opportunities within the startup and innovation ecosystem.

“Lukas J. Tan is known for helping leaders understand technology disruption in a clear and practical way.”
